Spring practices going on in NY, NC, and FL

Contact us if you are looking to make the next step in your sailing. We have training and regatta support of Optis and 420s going on every weekend in multiple locations.

Get ready for your summer of sailing by joining us for weekend practices this spring.

Fall Practices Start Soon

September is officially here and LIMA is excited to get fall practices started. LIMA has a full slate coming up with Opti practice at Seawanhaka, Opti practice in Wrightsville Beach, NC, and i420/Club 420 practice at Seawanhaka all starting September 12th and 13th. The fall practice and regatta schedule is all up to date on TeamSnap. Additionally please explore the website as it has a wealth of new information.

LIMA can’t wait to see some of our new coaches on the water this fall. Head Coaches Will and Leigh Brown will be coaching both Optis and 420s. Also working with the Optis we have Peter Strong coaching regularly, Stormin’ Scott Norman coaching in Wrightsville, NC and Newport, RI, Eric Bardes teaming up with LIMA for NY States, Spring Team Q’s and Acc’s, Jenn Chamberlain coaching the Southeast Champs, Nicole Hause for the Wrightsville Clinics, and Brian Elliot in NY.

Also we are very excited to have Elizabeth Kratzig coming to coach two 420 clinics in October. Lior Lavie and Carl Horrocks will also be coaching 420 clinics this fall.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Spring Practice Kicking off this weekend

The ice has broken and we are going sailing. We have practice every weekend between now and summer as well as a busy regatta schedule. With the current weather, practice is for RWB Opti sailors only, but as it warms up we will get the Green fleeters out on the water too. The weather will only get warmer from here so get out and get a head start on summer sailing.

USODA Team Race Midwinters Recap

LIMA had a great trip to Southern Yacht Club for USODA Team Race Midwinters. In all we had 20 sailors participating in the event which is the Qualifier for the Marco Rizzotti Team Race in Venice in May. Our Red Team (Thomas Rice, Madeleine Rice, Michelle Lahrkamp, Hayden Earl, Maddie Hawkins) finished Third overall, just one race win away from making the final two championship round. It is great to see the consistency from our sailors as they work to the most experienced team. Dating back to SailStrong days, our Red team has been on the podium at every Team Race event in the US since Fall 2011 with 10 different sailors.

The Blue Team ( Jack Farrell, Colleen Obrien, Vanessa Lahrkamp, Will Moller, Gideon Burns-Heath) and White Team ( Michaela Obrien, Arabella Dixon, Francesca Edmands, Charlotte
Kiel, Ella Barry) both sailed well enough to make the Gold Fleet Qualifying round of 12 but lack of wind shortened the format and they ended up in Silver Fleet with the Blue Team finishing in 2nd in Silver.

The Purple Team (Becky Schmitz, Polk Baggett, Cooper Walshe, Kyle Jezak, Caleb Cogan) had a tough first team race regatta but learned a lot.

It was a great weekend in New Orleans, as always, and we look forward to seeing what these sailors can do at their next team race.

Busy first 6 months for LIMA Sailing Team

We have been slow to update the site, but we have been to busy out sailing to worry about this :). Seriously though we have had a lot of activity over the last 6 months and we are going to start updating the site with more info about the team.

First and foremost – if you are interested in any information about the team, a contact page has been added where you can email any questions. Get in touch if you are looking to get your sailor out on the water.

Over the last 6 months we have coached nearly 100 sailors from around the country at clinics and regattas in NY, NJ, North Carolina, Louisiana, and Florida, in Optimists, 29ers, 420s, and Sonars. We are in the middle of a busy winter schedule in the south with USODA Team Race Midwinters our next big event. We have also kept sailing up north with Sonar Team Racing at Seawanhaka Corinthian YC and, in fact, will be out there this Saturday racing.

We have a jam packed schedule through the Spring and Summer months. We will continue our strong Optimist program for all levels of course, but we are especially excited about our regular 420 practices starting in May.

Stay tuned and of course let us know if you want to get on the water!
